Join me for an inspiring outdoor drawing class where we'll not only learn the fundamental skills to create beautiful and expressive artwork, but also connect with the very ground beneath our feet. Imagine capturing the iconic vistas of one of Richmond's most photographed scenes – a location steeped in the rich history of our city's founding. As we learn about perspective, proportion, shading, and composition, we'll also delve into the fascinating stories and significance of our chosen spot, bringing a deeper understanding to the art we create.

My approach is all about making that blank page less intimidating. We'll playfully explore a variety of mark-making techniques, discovering the unique textures and energy you can bring to your drawings. And if time and curiosity allow, we might even splash in some color to bring our historical impressions to life!

Come prepared to learn, create, and experience Richmond's beauty and history through the captivating art of drawing. Let's make some art and uncover some stories together!

My husband saw a video on Instagram of someone using marbles in ink rolling around on a paper. There was an empty frame on top to keep marbles in. I tried it and loved the results. It is random lines that make different designs. This one I used a black brush pen to add more darks in spaces. It really made the paper pop!

Have wanted to paint for many years and with retirement started with Oil Paint in April 2023. I wanted to try Acrylics for its fast drying time. This is my Fourth Acrylic painting. I want to emphasize the three primary colors when I can as they are foundational colors. I?m inspired by the beauty of nature and strive to capture its amazing scenes that play out before us day by day.

Back in 2016 I began getting requests to do live wedding paintings. I paint the wedding as I see it (per the couple's request) and whether it's the first dance, first kiss, saying the vows, walking down the aisle, etc., I paint it on scene in 4-6 hours, take it home and clean it up, and deliver it usually (usually is the operative word) within 10-14 days.

Title or Location: Through the coral reef
This piece was created while attending an art retreat by Milan Art Institute in Sarasota, Florida. The theme of the retreat was beneath the surface. I combined two images to add the mermaid in the background of the turtle image, creating a unique source. This painting combines collage, acrylic ink, spray paint, acrylic paint and is finished off with oil paint to encompass texture and vibrancy. As a New Englander I love being on or around the water. This piece brought out my passion for sea life

This pop of spring is created on 6x6 ceramic tile, mounted on glass and inserted in a 8x8 shadow box. I am a fluid, acrylic artist.
